Benzac AC® Gel is an aid in the treatment of acne and is available in 3 strengths for topical application.
Always start treatment with either 2.5% or 5% gel and be sure to read the information leaflet inside the pack before you begin.
Benzac AC® Gel is a spot treatment and should only be applied to affected areas. Wash and dry your hands before applying the gel. Unless your doctor or pharmacist has told you otherwise, follow these three steps:
How do you use it:
Step 1: Wash the affected area with a mild skin cleanser and water and pat skin dry.
Step 2: Apply a thin film of Benzac AC® Gel to the affected areas once daily, leaving on the skin for 2 hours then washing it off with water then pat skin dry.
Step 3: Apply a light moisturiser which won’t clog pores. After three days, if no discomfort is felt, apply Benzac AC® Gel in the evening and leave it on all night.
After 7 days, if there is no redness or peeling and your skin is still not improving, apply Benzac AC® Gel twice a day, morning and night. How long you will need to use Benzac AC® Gel will depend on how quickly your condition improves.
After a month, you should see your doctor or pharmacist again so they can asses the condition of your skin.
As the second step in your three-step acne treatment routine, only use Benzac AC High Strength 10% Acne Gel on affected areas. Make sure you wash with a cleanser first, before patting your skin dry. Next, apply a thin film of gel – just once a day – and leave it for two hours. Wash off well with water and pat dry, before applying a light moisturiser. If, after three days, you’ve felt no discomfort, apply in the evening and leave overnight before washing off. After seven days, if there’s no redness or peeling, and your condition has not improved, use twice daily, morning and night.
Unless you have sensitive skin, as a general rule, begin your treatment with Benzac AC Mild Strength 2.5% Acne Gel before moving to Benzac AC Moderate Strength 5% Acne Gel and Benzac AC High Strength 10% Acne Gel. If your condition has not improved after one month, consult your Health Professional.
